Chinese Barbecued Chicken Breast March 23, 2012

We have been having such warm weather here in Michigan that I decided to make some chicken breast outside on the grill.  I have found a new ingredient that I love to use in Asian cooking, it’s Sesame oil.  Yes, it’s high in fat but I try to only use about 1-2 teaspoons per recipe so I can keep the fat content down. Sesame oil comes in a dark and light and truly enhances Asian recipes ( I read it also helps with lowering blood pressure – not sure on that fact).

I hope you enjoy this  recipe for Chinese BBQ chicken breast.  Remember you can have food fast without having fast food.  Enjoy!

4 chicken breast

1/4 cup hoisin sauce

2 teaspoons sesame oil (either dark or light)

2 garlic cloves minced

Combine all ingredients except chicken breast.  Mix thoroughly.  Place chicken breast on grill using medium heat.  Baste the sauce over the meat as it cooks.  Using meat thermometer, remove the chicken when the thickest part of the breast reaches 155 degrees. Remove from heat and cover with foil for at least 10 minutes (allows you to finish up cooking the rest of your meal).  Check temp of chicken before you serve it, the temp should now be at 165.  That is a safe temp to eat poultry/turkey.   Enjoy!
