If you read my February article in Women’s Lifestyle Northshore you saw that I was going to introduce you to about 12 new words. Fairy Water is the third for the month. I heard about “Fairy Water/Sexy Water” on the Ellen Show. I laughed when I saw the segment because we have been doing this for years, just didn’t know it had a name. Some people call it Fairy Water others call it Sexy Water, either way it’s water infused with flavor (not like you get out of the store). My friends who have a massage have this water at the spa, which is where some of you may have heard of it. I like to make it for my granddaughters and they just think they are having “fancy water” when we have tea parties or special dinners. No matter what you call it, it’s a great way to had some fun to water without adding sugar and dye. Enjoy!!
You can add things like
- Edible dried rose petals
- Lemon and/or lime sliced in rings.
- Star anise
- Dried jasmine flowers (edible)
- Cucumber (slices)
- Bay leaves
Take a nice pitcher of water and put any one or combination of the above items in the water. How much will depend on the intensity of the flavor you are looking for. Place the pitcher in the frig covered with plastic wrap so it does not pick up any other “flavors” from your frig. The longer you let the flavors infuse the better.
Serve in a nice glass with ice.
